Clarence Allen Forbes
Clarence Allen Forbes began teaching at the University in 1927. Though not much can be found about him, I feel that it is safe to say that he felt that Classics was an important area of study. The fact that he acknowledges the burning of books througout history suggests that he is aware that his subject might be considered "burnable" to some people in academia. His legacy survives as the Clarence Forbes Scholarship, which is a resource for Classics majors at the University of Nebraska to travel abroad to study Greek or Latin.
