Hartley Burr Alexander

Hartley Burr Alexander was a graduate student at the University from 1897 to 1898.  Though he studied Greek and English while obtaining a graduate degree from the University of Nebraska, he ended up teaching Philosophy. This shows that his humanities background not only got him a job, but also in a discipline other than the Classics (and English) that he studied.

Alexander wrote "The Unification of the Associations," that discussed the unification of the American Philosophical Association (APA) and the WPA.
