FOREWORD.

The University Week Association in establishing University Week has taken a great step in the direction of promoting sympathy and understanding between the people and the student body. A movement of this kind with its great educational advantages both for the students and the people who will hear them deserves the enthusiastic support of all. My hope is that all of the towns who are approached by the Association for engagements will respond not only with contracts but with large public gatherings to see the University students at work and play. It is also my desire to urge all students to devote as much of their spare time as they can to the activities of this Association. The tendancy of this movement is to train the students to entertain and instruct the people who can't attend the University, and to bring the students and the people into friendly and intimate relations. As a new movement with such a broad object and so much energy and efficiency behind it it deserves all the support it can recieve.

Very sincerely yours,

S. Avery Chancellor.
