Coach John Reta coached the UNL Men’s Swimming and Diving Team for most of the 1970’s, but while he may have been on the cutting edge of swimming, according to former head coach Cal Bentz, the swimming facility at UNL was lacking and held the team back.  The terrible shape of the facilities and the need for new and improved ones were even expressed in the few yearbooks from the 1970s.  Unfortunately, coach Reta did not produce a winning team and in 1978 coach Cal Bentz became the head coach.  No pictures were found for the years 1973-1979.  A picture of the Coliseum swimming pool is provided in this album.
