Co-Ed Visitation in the Residence Halls

One of the aspects of the “in loco parentis” that students were eager to change was the limited rights of residents to have guests.  Originally, the University instituted very strict rules regarding guests in the Residence Halls.  Guests were only allowed if they were the same sex as the person they were visiting and even then only during short visiting hours: 10 am until 4 pm.

Students were displeased with this and worked hard to extend these hours and allow co-ed visitation in the Halls.  Much time and effort was put forth in order to establish visiting hours which were found to be satisfactory by both the students and the University.
