Nebraska

I

Where the sun shines warm and bright,

            That’s Nebraska!

Yet it’s always cool at night,

            That’s Nebraska!

Countless hordes of corn-fed shoats,

Cattle, chicken, sheep, and goats,

Widespread fields of wheat and oats,

            That’s Nebraska!

I

Rolling prairies, fertile soil,

            In Nebraska!

We don’t need to drill for oil,

            In Nebraska!

In its fields lies wealth untold,

Good as heaps of shining gold,

And the half has not been told

            Of Nebraska!

II

Zero weather half the year,

            In Nebraska!

Winter storms our constant fear,

            In Nebraska!

So be careful where you go

When the raging blizzards blow,

Or you’ll perish in the snow,

            In Nebraska!

II

Scorching wind and burning sun,

            In Nebraska!

Till the summer months are done,

            In Nebraska!

Then two-thirds our hard-earned “jack”

To the coal yard we must pack

To supply the heat we lack,

            In Nebraska!
