Ross Controversy Over

Nebraska Athletic Board Reaffirms Their Former Action.

Wesleyan Game Not Considered Hard But the Methodists Will Stand Watching.

After carefully going over the evidence offered by the Jayhawkers in regard to the gentleman's agreement between the representatives of the Missouri Valley schools, the athletic board unanimously agreed to reaffirm the action taken on the matter at their meeting of last week. This reaffirmation means that Clint Ross, the gigantic guard, will play against the Jayhawkers at Lawrence when the two rival teams meet week after next.

The athletic board considered the letters from the representatives and with but two exceptions found that none of the representatives had remembered of any such agreement. The action of the board has met with the approval of the entire student body almost to a man and the alumni have responded to the action of Chancellor Avery by expressing their approval in the way of letters to the management and even to the press.

This is a question that has been hanging fire for some little time and has at last been settled to the full satisfaction of every one in the valley with the probable exceptions of Missouri and Kansas.

Considerable sentiment has been expressed among the student body in regard to Nebraska's chances in the western conference. From the quality of the elevens that Nebraska has had for the past four or five years it is quite evident that the Cornhusker school would be able to keep her own in that organization. Nebraska has been giving the big nine schools that she meets on the gridiron all that they could handle and usually these teams have been the champions of the larger conference. The time is gradually coming when Cornhusker athletics will be wanted in the western conference and that will not be many years either.

While the Cornhuskers will be battling with the strong and speedy Methodists the Jayhawkers will try to run up a larger score against Washburn than did the Nebraska eleven. The Methodists have a bunch that will surprise the Cornhuskers, according to Coach Cline. While they did not have any hopes of winning from Nebraska they do hope to hold the Scarlet and Cream aggregation to a comparatively low score.

Ross Controversy Over.

Captain Purdy is still on the side lines taking his daily workouts in the capacity of coach. The captain's knee has not mended as rapidly as was thought for at first, but he is able to get around without the aid of crutches. Halligan, who should have been on the side lines instead of playing against the Aggies, has been taking things a little easier this week and will not do much but try and get back into condition for the Jayhawker contest. The back field men who were bruised quite a little in the Aggie game have been doing light practice. All are doing their best to give the Kansas aggregation the best that they have. It is likely that the lineup Saturday will contain quite a number of second string men thus saving the regulars for the Jayhawkers.
