Society called to order at 7:55. The following programme was presented.

Four minute talk———W. S. Perrin
Declamation———H. E. Shotwell
Essay———Miss Mary Jones
Piano duet———Messrs. Allen & Hardy
Recitation———Miss May Roberts
Oration———R. L. Marsh
Review———Will O. Jones
Chorous———Palladian Boys
Debate———W. H. Lichty, C. S. Allen

House crowded, and general debate animated.

Society called to order.

Minutes of last meeting read and approved.

The Chase & Wheeler prize oratorical contest regulations were called for and ready by the Secretary.

President announced the following committee on contest as follows: D. L. Clark, W. E. Johnson and C. S. Allen.

Lecture committee reported a few names of lecturers and prices. Com. asked to sit again.

A committee fromthe Union society announced a challenge for a literary contest.

Moved and secondd that a committee be appointed to draft resolutions on the same and to report in 10 minutes.

Carried. A. G. Warner, W. H. Lichty and P. F. Clark were appointed.

While they were deliberating another committee from Union society brought in bill of S. C. Elliot for $2.85 which had been sent to Unions by mitake.

A. G. Warner stated that said bill had been pad. He was therefore appointed to satisfy Mr. Elliot.

Names proposed: Clara E. Caldwell and Mr. Spelde.

Elected, W. C. Hardy and Miss Grace Barrett.

Lichty moved that an order be drawn on treasurer for $22.50, the same to be paid C. C. Chase for chandelier. Carried.

The contest committee reported the following resolutions:

Whereas, we have twice attempted to hold a contest with the honorable Union Literary Society of the University of Nebraska, and

Whereas, said contest was in the first occasions postponed at the request of said society 'till it was impossible, and on the second occasion was postponed and finally abandoned at the regret of the same Literary Society, and

Whereas, thinking that such work as this was the last possibility in the way of nonsense, we have bade arrangements to have two contests between our members, which will make all the work which we care to undertake, therefore be it

Resolved, that with all respect to our would-be opponent,

we feel compelled to ask said Union Society to be so kind as to go grass. With infinite respect but now as ever failing to tumble to your racket. We remain

Moved and seconded that the report be adopted.

Lost by vote of 15 for and 15 against.

Moved and seconded that the committee be given two minutes in which to elimmate the objectionable portions of the document.

Carried. In due time the following revised edition was presented and unanimously adopted.

Resolved, with all respect to our would-be oppoennt, we feel compelled to ask that said Union Society be so kind as to exercise their combative power against those who take more pleasure then ourselves in being left at the moment of battle without an antagonist. With infinite respect, but now as ever we remain,
