Reading of minutes. Reading of fines. Mr. Sheeler, Frank Clark, Miss Weston were fined for non-performance. Globe com. reported. Com. Ordered to purchase two globes similar to the ones we have.

The names of Miss Harris Miss Curtis, Mr. A.D. Curtiss, Mr. Racer, Mr. Storrs, Mr. M.E. Davis Mr. A. T. Davis, Miss S. D. Connor, Mr. A.G. Barnes Jr.

The following resolution was offered and adopted; Whereas it has been reported that some members of this society have helped disturb the sessions of the Union Society there fore resolved that we hereby request the said Union Society if such be the case to break the neck of such members and gently drop them out

An amendment to the constitution was offered and laid upon the table for one week. Mr. Stout, Miss Manley, and Heffleman were elected members.

Dispensed with reading of minutes. Mr. Knight and Mr. Pierce, were fined for nonperformance of duty. The amendment which had been upon the table for one week was called for and was given a second reading. The

amendments was as follows; To amend the amendments of Art. 1st. Sec II by substituting the amendment.

The active members of this society shall consist of those students who have been duly elected members of the society, who are in actual attendance at the University, who have at least two studies in the college of Literature, Science and the arts, or in the industrial college or in the department preparatory thereto, and are not in arrears for fines and dues and levies.

And it is further provided that no member of a college Fraternity can be an active member of the Palladian society. Those excepted who are members of a fraternity and also active members of said Palladian Society at the time of the passage of this amendment.

After a lengthy discussion the question was called to vote, by call for ayes and no's, which resulted as follows:

Reading of call by sec'y. By motion of Mr. Warner the office of Pres. left vacant. Rules dispensed and sec'y. cast the unanimous ballot of society for Mr. Manley for Treas. to fill vacancy. Pres. ordered to fill all vacancies on standing committees. Miss Mullon placed on contest class for a recitation in place of Fred Shepherd. Mr. W.E. Johnson made chairman of globe committee. Mr. Knight ordered to fix all broken chairs and charge same to Pal. society. Mr. Johnson ordered to use his taste on globes. Miss Aughey made com. to get piano tuned. Mr. Warner, Mr. Smith and Miss Manley made a com. to take charge of the "Oratorical contest." The Pres.

offered an amendment to the constitution to take the place of the one adopted Oct 31, '84, which was as follows

Art (1) first Sec II

The active members of this society shall consist of those to whom the following conditions apply.

  • 1st They shall be in actual attendance at the University.

  • 2nd They shall have been duly elected members of this Society.

  • 3rd They shall not be in arrears for fines dues or levies.

  • 4th They shall have at least two studies in the college of Literature, Science, and the Arts or the Industrial college, or the department preparatory thereto.

  • 5th They shall not be members of any college Fraternity.

Provided that clauses 4th and 5th shall not apply to those already members of the Society Oct 31st 1884.

The amendment laid on the table for one week.
