Happy New Year Friend John
Enclosed please find drft No 875 or rather Certificate of Deposit a/c; order of Wm S Draper for $33 75/100 dated Dec 22d 1860— which please place to my a/c. Do not send any money until you hear from me. I shall want it, but how soon I cannot tell. We have fallen in bad times. Hell is up again in the financial and political world. Keep a stiff upper lip. All will be right. This country, Nebraska, will not be affected by this panic. It will do us good. It will increase the Emigration. In case the Union holds, the rush to the Peak in the Spring will be fearful.
P.S. I must hurry to the Capitol to read the "Nigger Veto" to the Legislature. Regards to all.
