Dear Sir

I send you by Express to—day[sic] $1000# in Amer. Gold and about $24# in Pike Peaks dust. Have the latter sold and ascertain its value and credit me with some. If tested at the Mint get a written statement of its value and forward to me. I have just bot[sic] it from a returned Miner Please show it to Walker.

I herewith return you the P.O. Certif. amended as you desire. Warrants very dull. The funds I send you to—day[sic] are Government funds, but I hope to sell enough to put it back in safe. I send it with the knowledge and at the suggestion of the Secretary of the Territory.

Great is the trouble about lots and titles and one of ours is invalued, but I'll straighten it out

Yours truly

John McConihe
