Dear Sir:
Having received a unanimous call from the Board of Regents of the Univeristy of Iowa to the Presidency of that institution, which I think it my duty to accept, permit me through you to tender, to the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, with great reluctance, my resignation of the Chancellorship; the resignation to take effect at the pleasure of the Board, in no case later than Aug. 1st, 1899. With thanks to you and to the past and present members of the Board with whom I have been associated for personal kindness and united support
