Lincoln, Nebr. Apr. 20, 1918
Chancellor Hastings,
Univ. of Nebraska,
Dear Sir:
I am interested in the pending investigation of Dr. Luckey alleged anti-war sentiments by the Board of Regents of this institution. I am in hearty accord with the courageous and invaluable work of the Council of Defense in bringing enemies of patriotism to justice; but am assured that Dr. Luckey can never be fairly considered as such an enemy. I am a graduate student, have known Dr. Luckey for four years, and have heard him express opinions about the war – almost innumerable – during the current school year. I have also other evidence that to my mind fully establishes is patriotism.
Please consider me at your service if I can in any way assist in clearing up this unhappy affair.
Yours to Command,
C.O. Weber
