Pre-Trip Spirit

1,000 Students To Give Team Farewell Tuesday 2,000 Cheering Students Bid Godspeed To Team

The Cornhusker spirit was erupting all around Lincoln before the football team left for Oregon. The show of support for the team had never been matched and undoubtedly helped prepare the team for the unprecedented trip to Portland, Oregon.

As the Nebraska football team prepared to leave for Portland, students organized a "pep" rally in order to show their support. A committee was established of thirty students in order to prepare the best rally possible to send the Huskers off right.

The demonstration of Nebraska Spirit on October 18, 1916 was the biggest pre-game event that had ever been put together in Lincoln, Nebraska. It became even more obvious when the projected amount of 1,000 students was more than doubled the night of the event. More than 2,000 showed up to show their Husker spirit.
