REPORTED ROCKEFELLER GIFT
LINCOLN, Neb., April 6. John D. Rockefeller, according to a report widely circulated her to-day, is to endow the University of Nebraska in the sum of $666,000 provided the State will appropriate a sum sufficient to make the total endowment $1,000,000. An immediate appropriation, however, is impossible, as the Legislature will adjourn to-morrow.
Men closely connected with the university who credited the report say it was their understanding the endowment was to be in the form of a new building. Chancellor Andrews would neither confirm nor deny it. He said he had no statement to make and preferred not to discuss the matter at present.
