May 7th 1861 Dear John
I drew on you to day for $348# to pay a note for Mr Morton.
You may deduct it out of the money you send me for Morton, as will as all the drafts recently made by me on you. In case you do not discount Morons note we will send you funds as soon as we are able, which I hope wil be in a short time.
Our 10 Emigrant teams are crossing to day [sic], and they say an immense emigration is coming.
This is the first time I have been over here in a long while and I came looking up our taxes. The town is improving even now.
