I shall make application to you by next mail for the loan of $1000 or $1500 on Mr Mortons [sic] note, giving you a Power of Attorney to collect the amount from the United States within ninety days.

Mr Morton is the Delegate in Congress from this Territory and there will be due him as mileage between $4 & 5000, as soon as Congress convens [sic].

Let him have it. The loan is as safe as any can be.
