Friend John
Yours of the 25th ult. came duly and I herewith return you the note duly signed.
The money has not yet arrived — will not until about the 12th. I thank you for your kindness in this matter and shall be able to repay and pay the interest without any trouble.
I have succeeded in obtaining the Private Sect'y ship, under our new Governor and he says I shall hold it as long as he remains in office. Thus you see I shall make expenses this year. It does not interfere with any other business
P.S. Warrants are selling @.90— Wow. Emigration to the Gold fields wonderful, and the news from there good. Everything very cheap and little money made off the "Pikes Peakers."
