Burnett States Officials Frown on Use of Liquor

Says Nebraska Authorities Cooperating in Law Enforcement

"The University of Nebraska authorities have continually frowned upon the use of liquor by students or members of the faculty under all circumstances," declared E. A. Burnett of the state university Thursday morning. Chancellor Burnett returned Wednesday from Scottsbluff and North Platte where he filled speaking engagements earlier in the week.

The chancellor said that the recent discovery of liquor in the university coliseum is being thoroughly investigated by university authorities.

"The University of Nebraska authorities have continually frowned upon the use of liquor by students or members of the faculty under all circumstances," repeated the chancellor. "We have cooperated with and will continue to cooperate with the prohibition officers in an effort to keep student parties, fraternity and sorority houses and all university activities free from any drinking or use of liquor by students or others in attendance. Our position relative to the use of liquor is the same whether it refers to students, faculty or employees of the university.

Nebraska Dry.

"We have been informed by law enforcement officers that the state university community is unusually free from liquor or other violations of the law. There has been mutual cooperation between university authorities and law enforcement officerws in an effort to keep all university activities free from such evils.

"We have never withheld information which might be of use in apprehending and prosecuting violators of the law within the university community and in the present instance are cooperating with the proper authorities in matters of law enforcement.
