Alan G. Williams
Alan G. Williams was a University of Nebraska-Lincoln student from 1927-1931. He was a "barb" leader on campus, meaning he was a prominent nonfraternity student. He often was at odds with university administration over his actions regarding elections on campus. He was involved in many activities, including ROTC, the Innocents society, and the Prairie Schooner, a literary magazine created by Professor Lowry C. Wimberly. In 1932, Williams was arrested for possession of liquor in a raid at a University dance. He was an insurance salesman at the time of the raid. Professor Wimberly, along with fellow english instructor Norman Eliason were chaperones at the dance. Both were suspended for their involvement with the raid. Williams was the only one involved who was charged with illegal possession of liquor. He was released on a $1,000 bond following his arrest and was eventually fined $500 for his infraction ().
