STUDENTS PLACE BURDEN OF BAND DRIVE ON SELVES
Organizations Are Asked to Underwrite Money Still Needed

PLAN IS GIVEN APPROVAL
Interfrat Council Endorses Move at First Meeting Thursday Night

Nebraska students have taken the task of securing funds to send their band to West Point into their own hands and are organizing to raise the remainder of the total necessary to send their representatives east with the team, November 24. A plan of underwriting the necessary amount has been presented to every organization on the campus and every one will be able to pledge their support to this enterprise.
Cornhusker band scripts, in the form of a bond, have been issued which carry one dollar’s value. These may be secured by purchasing them from the Student Activities office and will be good for the amount designated for future use. A program of entertainment has been arranged for by the band.

To which admittance can be had by the presentation of one of these scripts.
Organizations throughout the campus have been presented with the plan and first reports are that they are endorsing it heartily. Fraternities and sororities will be able to buy the script in lot numbers as will every other campus organization. These may be held by the organization heads and can be resold or given to the individual members, whichever way the organization sees fit, to be used for tickets to attend the program of parties, shows, and other entertainment planned. The plan as presented is more or less a loan which can be redeemed later in the winter.
The Inter-fraternity Council at its regular meeting Thursday evening endorsed the plan unanimously and members of the council will take it up with their individual organizations at their next regular meeting. The Nebraska iLterary Societies have taken up the proposition as have nearly all the other organizations and are pushing strong to “Send the band to West Point.”
Value is Obvious
The value of sending the university band to the Army game is obvious. Nebraska is represented by a powerful football team this season and the support of the student body, which has been very strong this fall, should follow them east. Here is Nebraska’s chance to show the east that we not only have a strong gridiron machine but also a strong student body that is backing their team to the limit.
According to those in charge of the plan, sending the cadet band to West Point should be strictly a student body proposition and the support of every true and loyal Cornhusker is urged. To date Lincoln businessmen and Cornhusker alumni have responded nobly to the cause.
