In the 1960s the UNL Men’s Swimming and Diving Team entered the Big Eight Conference, but unfortunately never won a title.  They did however earn a second place finish in 1963 during Cal Bentz's first year as Head Coach, while previous coach Dick Klaas took a break.  After that year coach Klaas would return and in 1967 John Reta would take the reigns as head coach.  Coaches Klaas, Bentz, and Reta coached these teams.
