Oldfather Hall

The University's tribute to Oldfather's work during his time on campus.  In honor of Charles Henry Oldfather's legacy and his contributions to the University of Nebraska, the ten story Oldfather Hall was opened in 1970 [Knoll, 141]. It houses the offices of the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, which was the post occupied by Oldfather from 1932-1951 [Knoll, 141]. While the building is Oldfather's namesake, it does not represent his ideology, as Knoll describes the building as "a rabbit warren which defied the development of intellectual community" [Knoll, 141] and the high-rise nature of the building most likely would not have matched his taste for classical art.
