On May 7, 1954, the Board named Clifford M. Hardin as the new chancellor for the University of Nebraska. At age 38, he was the youngest chancellor in the history of the University and among the youngest university heads in the nation. His time at UNL proved to be extremely successful and his legacy lives on through the expansion of the physical campus and the partnership with University of Nebraska-Omaha.
