The 1970s had the most Chancellors / Intirim Chancellors of any decade.

The Chancellors were Joseph Soshnik (1969-71), James Zumberge (1972-75), and Roy Young (1976-80).

The Interim Chancellors were Peter Magrath (1971-92) and Adam Breckenridge (1975-76).

Major events at UNL during the 1970s were the Football National Championships in 1970 and 1971, which resulted in President Nixon coming to UNL to speak in January of 1971.
